Update (2013/04/11) : Version 0.4 is available. Noise reduction added and source code provided.
After googling a while I was surprised to see that there was so few free Java implementation for these functions. In the first place I had a need for real time sound analysis software being cross platform. So I’ve made them available. I don’t release the source code yet but I plan to do so as soon as it reach a sufficient maturity level.
You can download the software :

In a few words, theses tools processes signals captured but the soundcard (line-in or mic) in realtime. It provides means to analyse the shape of a periodic signal (Oscilloscope), the frequencies (or notes) decomposition of the signal or the evolution of frequencies (or tab) of a signal.
Key features includes:
- Adjustable up/down synchro for Oscilloscope
- Scale in frequencies and musical notes for Spectrum/Spectrogram
- Cross plateform for all of them
- Lightweight
Spectrum computation is performed through the FFT from JTransforms.
Qcp is a small footprint asynchronous copy program. It works more or less like the standard cp command except that the first call forks to the background to process command and further calls pass copy commands to the daemon. Command are then processed one at a time in the background.
This is very usefull when you want to copy multiple big files and there’s no way to select all of them using wildchars.

This post to speak about a driver I had during my holidays in Java and Bali and deserves to be known. Harry eric drove us to all the interesting places around Yogya (Borobudur, Prambanan, Kraton, …) and on the road to Bali (Solo, Bromo, Kawa Ijen,…). Harry speaks english pretty well and is very efficient.
The first part was a trip from Yogyakarta to Bali for which I chose the driving plus hotel and entrance fee. Thanks to Harry we were able to see all the interesting places while discovering very nice Warung for lunch and diner and experience the Javanese food.
After a very disappointing trip with a driver from the main tourist area in Sanur (the driver no longer speaks english whenever you want something out of his agenda. For instance, go to a very expensive restaurant so he can have a share on the bill), we asked Harry to drove us 3 days around Ubud (so only the driving). Harry helped us chose and organise the visit of so many temple and places and stopped in nice warung for lunch. He also provided us with some advices on prices, fruit selection, places…
Thanks again and may this post help someone else spend a memorable time in Java or Bali.
After installing a Fedora 17, I found out that Qgview was obsolete and there was no rpm to be found. After creating my own rpm from the sources, I discovered that there was a fork named Geeqie.
The fork was created because Qgview author and maintainer could not be contacted and you can find all the interesting features from Qgview in Geeqie: A lightweight image viewer/organiser which do not require to import images.
